Understanding What Motivate Employees to Meet Individual Targets in Insurance Companies: A Study of Life Insurance Companies

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to provide an understanding as to what motivates The organization’s sales reps, especially the commission-based workers to always Work hard and meet their individual targets. Guided by literature on what motivate Employees to meet their individual target in an organization, data was collected from Forty (40) employees of Enterprise Life Assurance Company and self administered questionnaire. Based on descriptive analysis, the workers in the organization believes that recognizing employees’ efforts has a direct influence or consequences on the performance of the company .It is also found that , workers in the organization have a view that employees are motivated solely by money .From the above analysis and findings, it is concluded that the performance of the firm depends solely on the commitment the workers will put up. The analysis and findings depict that employees can increase their productivity level when motivated. They have a greater influence on the successes of company therefore organizations must motivate its employees in both monetary and non-monetary aspects to give their best . Employees can perform well when their efforts are been recognized, goals setting Should align with the organization’s goals, as much as taking into consideration their welfare. It is recommended that , organization should have a remuneration package rather than only commissions to entice employees to work harder .The organization should recognize and motivate the outstanding employees to serve as a motivation for other colleagues to improve their performance
