The notion of equivalence in technical texts has been and is a controversial one, as it is often limited to terminology research. Terminology includes any vocabulary related to a specific field (jargon). Some refer to it as a specialized language. This paper is a comprehensive study on dengue fever. The study will prove that technical translation follows the micro phenomenon of information gathering and assimilation. In other words, for this study, it is essential to familiarize oneself with the medical jargon, especially in relation to fevers or viral diseases and, more specifically Dengue fever. The main objective of this research is to find appropriate equivalents for the majority of terms and phraseologies and to avoid copying the syntactic structure of the English language to the French language, thus deepening the notion of equivalence. The choice was made for a document on a scientific study of Dengue fever because it not only allowed us to raise the equivalence problem with its technical nature, it equally guided us to contribute to the knowledge of equivalence. It is, therefore, important to know that very often in technical translation, it is not only a terminological search or a search for pre-established equivalences of terms that contributes to a good translation but also, and more so, a documentary search which will guide the use of specialized language in the field, in this case, dengue.en_US
