dc.description.abstractThe research is of the view that language, being a medium of communication, spoken or written, is an essential tool which enables people to understand one another. The main objective of this research work is to consider games as pedagogical tool in French class, (French as a foreign language).The theoretical framework for this research is drawn from the cognitive approach of Jacques Tardif (1992) and constructivist approach of Jerome Bruner (2002)... Based on these approaches, we took a good look at the difficulties in learning French as a foreign language in an English speaking environment, and then showed the relevance of games in French class. The main objective of this work is to show how learners can acquire oral competence through games. The central question to answer in this work is: are games relevant in teaching and learning French as a foreign language in Senior High School? Other relevant questions are: what is the position of games in the French syllabus? What is the relation between games, and teaching and learning? Finally which games will be suitable for teaching French at the Senoir High Secondary School? The provisional answers were: games are ignored in the syllabus. Games are used according to the age, level and learning ability of the learner. In order to achieve the expected and desired results, our investigation focused on Tsito Senior High Technical School, OLA Senior High School Ho and St Paul Senior High School Denu and the following tools among others were used in the research ; questionnaires, interview for teachers and learners, on the use of games in the class.en_US
