The study uses economic approach to examine the effectiveness’ of strategies used by NGOs to promote girls’ education in Ghana. The study fitted cross-sectional data into a transcendental logarithmic (translog) production frontier function and concludes that a multiple of strategies are utilized by NGOs to promote girls education in the country. Capacity building advocacy and school support systems involving girl child sponsorship are the main strategies employed by NGOs to promote girls’ education. It is recommended that advocacy and lobbying activities of NGOs should be broadened to include consistency in educational policy because frequent changes in educational policies render their implementation less effective in terms of resource use and timeliness. Advocacy activities should also emphasize technical, agricultural, vocational education and on structural apprentice training. There is the need to continue to motivate girls by providing them with basic school needs like uniforms, bags and footwear. Effective sensitization is critical to promoting of girls’ education and will be most effective if targeted specifically towards parents. Finally, there is the need to improve the conditions of existing school building and to provide other facilities like furniture, teaching and learning materials to schools.en_US
