Abstract
The aim of the study is to examine the procedures for selecting suppliers and the associated challenges at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority. A case study method within the qualitative research approach was employed for the study. In all fourteen (14) research participants were interviewed for the study. The study findings show that the DVLA is adhering to the requirements of the Public Procurement Act in its Procurement practices. However, procurement process at the Authority has also been bedeviled with many challenges which include: lack of understanding and interpretation of contractual agreement on the part of some suppliers, inability of some suppliers to meet supply deadlines, and delays in the payment of suppliers. These challenges can be attributed to dynamic external environmental factors in which these procurement decisions are made. It is therefore, important for the DVLA to improve its supervision and monitoring during the implementation of supplier selection and procurement processes if these challenges are to be addressed.
