dc.descriptionThe interview was recorded in Managua, Nicaragua,on July 29, 1997. The Interviewer was James Sutterlin. Fiallos Mariano Gil was a humanist , writer and lawyer Nicaraguan who sought and achieved, along with the university community, the autonomy of the then National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNITE) based in the city of Leon.In 1934 he held a position in the judiciary and formed the group BOW (Patria, Renewal, Optimism, Action), which advocated a change in the Party Liberal in power. However, they failed, joining the first government members of dictator Anastasio Somoza García . In 1937 he devoted himself to agriculture. In 1941 he was appointed Director of the Technical Council of the Ministry of Public Instruction and in 1943 , vice-minister of the same institution. Since breaking with Somoza, was appointed Ambassador to Guatemala during the ephemeral government Leonardo Argüello , which lasted 27 days. In 1948 I attend as a journalist at the IX Pan-American Conference held in Bogota , Colombia . Later, he moved to the U.S. and returned to the country, dealing with agriculture.en_US
