Background: The four sea front communities are densely populated human settlements in the Ablekuma South sub metro of Ghana with corresponding high generation of both solid and liquid waste. Unfortunately, these communities have not received equitable attention in liquid waste management. A strategic plan was therefore developed to address the sanitation challenge of these communities. Aims and objectives. This study evaluates and documents the processes of liquid waste management strategy of Ablekuma South Metro Methods: The study design was descriptive cross sectional study. The study employed a mixed method approach. Records were reviewed and household survey on 30% of those who benefited from the program were conducted in-depth interviews and observations were also carried out. Result Two hundred and sixteen improved toilet facilities were constructed by the program over the 3years period instead of the expected 600 Only 100 toilets representing 46% were constructed within the intervention area (Chorkor, Glefe. Gbegbeyise). Whilst Mampbrobi was not captured. 54% (116) of the improved toilet facilities were constructed outside the intervention area. Out of the 65 randomly selected households purported to have benefited, 60 (92.3%) actually confirmed that improved toilet facility was constructed for them Distance, convenience. Attitude, cost and availability of toilet facility Influence the choice of place of convenience in these communities Conclusion, Provision of decent toilet can reduce open defecation but space, subsidized cost, lackadaisical attitude and low publicity is hampering the implementation of the program intensifying publicity adherence and innovative ways of funding can help achieve the target.en_US
