Abstract
The clinical features of 30 patients with
H.I.V. infection have been described. 18
patients had severe disease and satisfied the
WHO clinical definition of AIDS in Africa.
The usefulness of this definition in underdeveloped
countries has been discussed.
The remaining 12 patients had milder
disease and the importance of identifying this
group of patients in the control of HIV
infection in the community has also been
discussed.
In the main, the clinical features of HIV
infection in Accra is similar to those found
in East and Central Africa.
