dc.description.abstractMalaria places a severe burden on health and economics of sub-Saharan African countries. Indeed, over 90% of the global burden of malaria is in Africa. As part of the strategies to attempt control of .the disease several initiatives have been implemented that focus on chemotherapy, education and prevention and environmental management. All African countries subscribe to the Roll Back Malaria Initiative and the targets of the Abuja Declaration. Interventions to reduce morbidity and mortality have focusscd on attentive Case management, personal protection especially the use of insecticide-treated nets and intermittent preventive treatment in pregnant women using sulfadoxine-pyrimethamineen_US
