A member of the 1945 United Nations founding Committee, Archie Mackenzie served for more than 32 years of diplomatic service for the United Kingdom in several posts, including to Burma, Cyprus, France, Thailand, Tunisia, the United States and Yugoslavia. Seeing the birth of the United Nations at Dumbarton Oaks and in San Francisco, Mr. Mackenzie discusses the role that public information played at the beginning of the Organization in this interview conducted on 31 May 1985.
