Abstract

This document is the fourth edition of a Christian hymnbook titled "Lala Wolo," compiled by missionaries from the Basel German Mission and their local assistants. It was published in 1896 for use by Christian congregations in the Akra (Ga) and Adangme regions of the Gold Coast (modern-day Ghana). The hymnal is written in the Akra (Ga) language, using Dr. Lepsius' Standard Alphabet for phonetic consistency. The second page provides a detailed guide to this orthography, explaining the pronunciation of specific vowels and consonants, including nasal vowels and sounds unique to the language, to aid in the correct speaking and singing of the hymns.
