Abstract
Four hundred and seventy-nine (479) cases of eye
injuries were surveyed at Korle-Bu (K'Bu), Akim Oda,
and Wa government hospitals in a prospective

ratio of 2.3:1. Most of the injuries occurred in the
third decade age group. About I in 4 injuries occurred
in children. The major types of injury encountered
were superficial foreign bodies, blunt and
perforating injuries. Leading causes of injury were
small atmospheric particles, sticks, stones, human
hand and fighting. Drunk cyclists were targets in the
Wa district.
