Abstract

Whoever is thoroughly acquainted with the true interest of Great Britain, must know, that to her foreign commerce she is indebted for her present greatness, its support and preservation. The very land of England depends upon the sea; to commerce we owe the increase of our national treasure, the breed and excellency and plentiful supply of seamen; the security of our public credit; the regular payment of the funded interest, and in short, every advantage which can excite a spirit of industry to acquire the comfort of life.
