Some Problems Facing Chieftaincy Today

Abstract

Much has been said and written during recent times to give those who have no clear idea of the role of the institution of Chieftaincy an idea of what chiefs were created in our society to stand for and the role the institution was meant to play. 2. I feel however that many persons are apt to forget easily that institution has been with the people of this country for many many generations and during the period some aspects of ' Chieftaincy had to "evolve in response to the impact on it of the economic trends generally and particularly as regards the view of life and the universe held by the various ethnic groups in our society.
