Abstract

Celluloid film production in Ghana dating back to the colonial period gave way to video film production in the mid 80s. The article discusses the factors that contributed to the rise of video as a production format and the associated issue of influx of Nigerian movies in the face of poor quality local ones. The paper examines critically the dominant themes of the video films and its effects on viewers and calls for improved production technique to safeguard the industry.
