A better understanding of employees’ needs at the workplace is fundamental in determining the structures and tools needed to motivate them. A motivated and satisfied workforce will be more committed to the aims of an organisation, potentially stay longer with the organisation thereby reducing staff turnover. This has positive effects on organisation’s performance in enhancing human capital in terms of experience and the capacity to learn technologies and their application in moving organisations forward. This paper discusses the key issues and theories that promote job satisfaction at the workplace and how the effective application of the same enhances employee commitment and organisational performance.en_US
