Abstract
Undoubtedly, our life today cannot escape digital technology. Every aspect of our lives and work
depends on some sort of technology. As such, there has been a gradual adoption of technology in
the classroom to make teaching and learning, worthwhile (Bonsu et al., 2020). Although social
media was initially built to help people socialise, it has become an educational tool for teaching
and learning and sharing educational content. The utilisation of social media outside the
classroom also prepares learners for the 21st century, where students need to be innovative,
collaborative, creative, and communicate effectively in the ever-changing world (Redecker et al.,
2009). The prime reason for the adoption of social media for educational purposes is its familiar
user interface to the youth, low cost, ability to allow students to share and access valuable
information, connect and interact with fellow students, teachers, and other stakeholders
(Qualman, 2009; Gon & Rawekar, 2017).
