dc.description.abstract | This chapter examines the interface between social security policy and broader concerns over socio-economic transformation in Ghana in the post independence era. It shows that although social security policy is primarily concerned with income replacement of retired wage earners, its in all political regimes been used to served additional purposes including mobilization of funds for development, ensuring social solidarity, building nation unity, and wooing political support, without necessary compromising its origin intended purpose---income security at old age | en_US |
