In this capacity Sir Millard primarily dealt with foreign affairs for the Eden administration. After this term, Sir Millard returned to work with the United Kingdom Foreign Office, where he had previously been employed before serving in the armed forces during World War II. He later occupied several Foreign Service posts, including appointments as the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Italy and Sweden. This interview, conducted on 20 April 1990 during his retirement, gives insight into Prime Minister Eden's actions and relationships during the Suez Crisis of 1956.
