Abstract:
The substance of this thesis deals with case studies of six children in Teshie a coastal town eight miles east of Accra. ‘Social heritage definitely colours the life of the individual, shapes his behaviour and in part creates his character’ Miller. According to this quotation it would be improper to exclude from this account of the studies of the children the coherent picture of some of the important aspect of the social life of the town. This embraces a brief description of the area, its population, their nature of occupation, the number and proximity of schools, the general standard of literacy and education and other relevant factors.
